Tapestry Dance Company, North America’s only professional repertory tap dance company presents its annual festival of rhythm with the Annual Soul to Sole Festival in June of each season. With master classes taught by a faculty of critically acclaimed artists, this one-of-a-kind festival brings dancers and teachers from around the world, swinging jazz, a rhythm showcase anchored by Tapestry Dance Company and a stunning faculty performance with the Soul to Sole Jazz Trio at Austin's Rollins Theatre at The Long Center for the Performing Arts.
The International Tap Association is also headquartered in Austin, with Soul to Sole being one of the most esteemed and oldest tap festivals in the world, attracting hundreds of dancers from the US and abroad. The festival is a true celebration of this true indigenous American art form.
Over 75 master classes are taught in a five day span by these world-renowned dancers, choreography courses, tap jams, and panel discussions take the student from traditional to contemporary techniques and choreography.
The Soul to Sole festival has hosted numerous legendary tap dance artists including Fayard Nicholas of the Nicholas Brothers, Arthur Duncan (The Lawrence Welk Show), Jeni LeGon the original “Minnie the Moocher;” pioneers such as Brenda Bufalino, Sarah Petronio, Dianne Walker, Jane Goldberg, Heather Cornell and more along with dozens of contemporary leaders in the field including Michelle Dorrance, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards and Tapestry's own Nicholas Young a recent NYC Bessie Award Nominee!
This unique and amazing festival brings the passion of dance to the stage with hundreds of feet keeping time in a true celebration of rhythm.
