Tracie
Stanfield

As one of the top teachers in New York City, Tracie Stanfield brings energy, style and passion to her students across the world. Known for inspiring and challenging classes, Tracie’s work focuses on moving beyond the steps to allow each dancer to find their connection with breath, emotion and movement. Building on the technique of ballet, the bold rebellion of modern contemporary and the passion and pulse of jazz dance, Tracie’s classes are explorations in PURE DANCE. In addition to her classes at Broadway Dance Center, Tracie serves as Artistic Director of Synthesis Dance Project, a contemporary lyrical concert dance company based in NYC. Over the past decade, Synthesis Dance Project has held annual New York City seasons with additional extensive touring throughout the United States. International engagements with Choreographer Tracie Stanfield include Japan, Turkey, Costa Rica and Canada with upcoming residencies scheduled in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. Successful US engagement highlights include Boston University, Towson University, Hollywood Performing Arts Center and select local community festivals such as The Grier Gala in Pennsylvania, The Bluegrass State Dance Festival in Kentucky and SoNo Arts Festival in Connecticut. In addition to annual seasons, additional special New York engagements include performances at Symphony Space, The Duke, Joyce SoHo, Dixon Place, Untermyer Park in Yonkers, NuDance Now Festival at Riverside Church, The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row and Cool NY Dance Festival in Brooklyn. On the faculty of Broadway Dance Center, Tracie Stanfield continues to teach master classes, workshops and residencies for organizations such as The Rock School, K-Broadway/Tokyo, Joffrey Ballet School, The University of South Carolina, Mesa State College, Sureste Dance Festival (Mexico), The International Dance Festival’s Summer Intensive (Artistic Director),Marymount Manhattan College, The Grier School, The Pulse on Tour, Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America, Motion Dance Convention, The Gold School, Spirit Dance Academy (Costa Rica) and more!

Deirdre Strand

Co-Founder Deirdre Strand started her professional career with the Fort Worth Ballet and continued with James Clouser’s Space/Dance/Theatre and Austin on Tap touring company. She started her degree work at Texas Christian University and has taught for the University of Houston where she holds her B.F.A. in Dance.  In addition, she has studied with Manolo Agullo, Fernando Schaffenberg, Edward Villella, Arthur Mitchell and Melissa Hayden among others. Highlights of her ballet roles include James Clouser’s Rasputin and Don Quixote staged by Miguel Terekov. She has staged unique contemporary ballet and modern/jazz works for Tapestry Dance Company as well as the British Olympic Association, the New Orlean’s World’s Fair and numerous professional and training organizations worldwide. Her unique and holistic teaching techniques are the standard syllabus for The  Dance Arts Institute of America and are in demand locally as well as nationally and abroad. Past work has involved Ballet Austin and The International Summer School/Cyprus, the Dance Department of TASIS/London, Tanzsommer in Austria, Danse Encore in Canada as well as the initiation of unique dance cross-training programs for Irish step dance in collaboration with Eimir Ni Mhaoileidigh in Ireland as well as an international dance education program in Salamanca, Spain.  Ms. Strand has also choreographed numerous musical theatre productions including Fiddler on the Roof, Little Shop of Horrors, Jesus Christ Superstar, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, My Fair Lady and the critically acclaimed Zilker Summer Musical Big River! among many others. In addition to Tapestry Dance Company, Ms. Strand heads the Dance Department of St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, Austin and hosts numerous dance educational residencies that have included The Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, Jane Comfort & Company, Rennie Harris, Zen One and numerous Austin artists. 

Eric John Campros

Eric John Campros began professionally performing in California at the age of 18. Throughout his career, Eric has had the privilege of dancing with several artists including The Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Usher, Mikaela, and Aaliyah. He has appeared on numerous television series and specials including the MTV Video Music Awards, the BET Awards, and the Blockbuster Awards. He has danced in several commercials and industrials for companies including Nissan, Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Old Navy, Target, Nike, and Wrangler Jeans. As a choreographer Eric toured the south with Real Soul, in Germany with the bands B3 and M*Pire, and has worked with recording artist Kelly McCarthy. As an educator Eric has taught classes around the world, most recently in China as guest faculty at Shandong University of the Arts and Hebei Art University. He recently returned from a second successful tour of India where he worked with some of the brightest stars in the Bollywood Industry. 

Acia Gray

As soloist, choreographer and master teacher, Ms. Gray has toured extensively across the U.S. and abroad and in 1989 co-founded Tapestry Dance Company in Austin, TX with Deirdre Strand and currently serves as Producing Artistic Director & Artistic Director of The Soul to Sole Tap Festival. A gradualte of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts/NYC, Ms. Gray has shared the stage with numerous legends and contemporaries of American tap dance throughout the US and abroad. She was chosen to work with tap legend Charles ‘Honi’ Coles in America’s first creative residency for tap at The Colorado Dance Festival and again with Jimmy Slyde and was featured in the documentary A Class Act: The Magic of Honi Coles. She was a founding member and Managing Director of the touring company Austin on Tap, served on the Steering Committee of The International Tap Association and was a featured soloist representing the US in the Dance Magazine Calendar. She has also danced, choreographed and taught for Columbia College, The Univerisity of Texas, The Colorado Dance Festival, International Summer School/Cyprus, Dance Masters of America, TASIS/London, Tanzsommer/Austria, The St. Louis Tap Festival, The Chicago Human Rhythm Project, The NYC Tap Festival, Le Festival De Danse Encore and many others. Her book The Souls of Your Feet – A Tap Dance Guide for Rhythm Explorers has been translated in the Czech Republic and China and has been an Amazon.com bestseller in its category. Her numerous awards include the “Hoofer Award” by The New York City Tap Festival and a premiere member of the Austin Arts Fall of Fame.  She has received numerous "Best Of" awards by the Critics Table in Austn and her work "The Souls of Our Feet - A Celebration of American Tap Dance" was chosen as an NEA American Masterpiece production and toured throughout the US, Canada and China. Currently she can be seen in the tap documentary "Tap or Die". Ms. Gray served as the President of the International Tap Association from 2008-2014 and is currently the organization's Director.
